Yesterday I got official information that Sharp ended Zaurus line — last production will be in February 2007 and then nothing — no new models, no building of older models. Many people wrote that this is bad thing, that they will miss new toys with Zaurus name…
I am not one of them. Since SL-C3000 (called [...]

Some time ago one company contacted me. They have 802.11g CF card which they want to put on market but first want to get it supported in all Zaurus distributions. Driver is available but only for 2.4 kernel, and OpenZaurus use 2.6 on most of models.
I got driver source (without license information inside) and started [...]

During discussion with some users on #openzaurus channel I discovered that about 30 months passed since I’m using OpenEmbedded for building software.
First attempts were used to build extra packages for my SL-5500 running OpenZaurus 3.3.6-pre1, then I built OZ “3.5.0″ for it and worked on getting OPIE working correctly when compiled with gcc 3.4.x (loading [...]

Today I released third testing version of OpenZaurus 3.5.4.2 version. It support only two models:
poodle (SL-5600/B500)
tosa (SL-6000)
I decided to do not ship collie (SL-5000/5500) images as they need some work (for example they lack udev) and as usual there is a problem to get OPIE/GPE images fit in this small rootfs space.
The most important changes [...]

From time to time people are asking about schematics of JTAG cable for Zaurus machines. Such cable can be used to restore flash memory content after destroying it.
For all models newer then collie (SL-5000/5500) there is a hope still as they are much harder to brick. User can enter “Diagnostics menu” via magic keycombo (which [...]

Few days ago I flashed 2.6.17 on tosa (with unofficial OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1 OPIE image) and I have to say that it was good choice. After fixing keymap (pushed into OpenEmbedded) and adding one script into apm (not yet pushed) I have machine which suspend/resume very fast, has working WiFi after each resume and behave better [...]
